Exhibition at Cambridge Art Salon and workshop at Cambridge Science Centre

These past months have been very full. Lot of work, book fairs (Bologna and London) and many things to do.
I have just realised that I still had to write about my exhibition at Cambridge Art Salon and about the workshop that I led at Cambridge Science Centre.

Let's start with the exhibition; it was a truly wonderful experience, thanks to Ruthie Collins, Art Salon and friends that helped and supported me.
I was also featured on the Cambridge News, you can read it on line, here.

My window dressing was very successful and received a lot of appreciations, to such an extent that they asked me to keep it also for the next exhibition; as you can imagine I was really pleased.

A lot of people came to the opening, from all ages! A lot of children with their parents also, and the atmosphere was happy and cheerful.

Here you can see some photos of the event.

On the 24th of February I ran a workshop for children at Cambridge Science Centre.
The workshop was connected with e-Luminate Festival. Thanks to Alessandra Caggiano for inviting me.
The workshop was aimed at increasing the awareness of children about sustainability and the environment.
I created a small booklet with illustrations, games and simple sentences about daily actions that kids can do to develop their knowledge about sustainability and energy conservation.
We had a lot of fun!

Exhibition at Cambridge Art Salon

Tomorrow I will have the opening night for my exhibition at Cambridge Art Salon.
I will exhibit prints and a lot of new original illustrations.
Today I spent my day setting up everything, thanks to my great helpers - Silvia, Francesco and Armando - I managed to finish before midnight! I also did a window dressing, you can see a photo of a detail down here.
I have been interviewed and tomorrow there will be an article on it on Cambridge News.
I hope I will see you there.

Thanks to Love Cambridge Art and Cambridge Art Salon for this opportunity!

Wake up!

Same-sex marriage is an hot topic in these hours in the UK.
I thought to give my contribution because I feel this is very important. I really believe that we should start thinking about people and not people gender, we should think about love, about giving the same rights to everyone. Equally.

I look forward to seeing other countries stepping forward and accepting love.

Dreams are for everyone, Right too!

And you? What do you think?

Edinburgh Printmakers

I wrote a post about my experience at Edinburgh Printmakers for Topipittori's blog.
If you want to read it this is the link; unfortunately it is only in Italian.

Thanks a lot Topipittori!

Focus Wild

I illustrated an article from Jovanotti for the December issue of Focus Wild.

Wordation

Great news, I made some new designs for Wordsation a company of unique baby fashion.
I am so happy about it, I had a lot of fun doing these illustrations.
Now, if you need some presents for a baby, you know where to find something special.
Here it is the direct link to the page.

Memoires d'un Doudou

Also this year Francesca Capellini organised an exhibition during the Salon du Jeunesse in Montreuil, at De Fil en Cafè. She had a wonderful idea.
We were 16 illustrators (Sara Gavioli, Giulia Sagramola, Sarah Mazzetti, Marta Iorio, Francesca Ferri, Nicola Giorgio, Emanuele Rosso, Umberto Mischi, Giada Fiorindi, Marta Muschietti, Fabrice Beau, Ilaria Boscia, Daniela Tieni, Francesca and me) and Francesca asked each of us to draw a self-portrait with our doudou, the favourite toy of our childhood (or transitional object, to say it with a technical language - I am still an art psychotherapist too! :D), and to write a sentence about it. This sentence was then sent to another illustrator who had to illustrate our doudou. They didn't know who wrote the sentence.
Working on my doudou brought back to my mind a lot of memories and also drawing the doudou of the other illustrator piqued my curiosity. It is particular how it created a sort of silent relationship with the other person. I felt like I had to keep a secret.
The result was extraordinary and moving. Going into the cafè and discovering all the illustrations and their pairing was really intriguing.

Thanks to Francesca for inviting me, for all her hard work to organize everything and for the photos. Thanks to Marianne who hosted us this year too.

I hope we could bring the exhibition in others cities too!

Here a post from Francesca about the exhibition (sorry, in Italian only).

Insieme a me c'erano Chiara Di Palma, Giuseppe Vitale e, naturalmente, Monica Monachesi e Gabriele Cacciatori
---
It was more that two months ago  when I was in Sàrmede for the 30th exhibition Le immagini della fantasia and the opening of the "Casa della fantasia" and still I haven't written about it. So sorry!
In this occasion we also presented the book CASE. I was with Chiara Di Palma, Giuseppe Vitale and, of course, Monica Monachesi and Gabriele Cacciatori.
It has been so exciting to sign books, see so many persons interested in our project and meet new people.
My illustration on "The Master and Margarita" of Michail Bulgakov, Behemoth the cat, has been exhibited too.
We have been so busy that I didn't have any time to see the exhibition properly, unfortunately.
Moreover, we stayed in a lovely place, a whole house all for us, with a very magic atmosphere.
I also had the big honour to see Jozef Wilkon drawing live!
It is a pity that Ana Aranda and Beatriz Martin couldn't be there; I hope in future we will have the possibility to stay altogether.
I would like to suggest you two posts: one is about Sàrmede, on the Topipittori's blog, the other one is an interview to Gabriele Cacciatori on Le figure dei libri - unfortunately both of them are only available in Italian.
