Durante questa serata di autofinanziamento gli autori di Lök lasceranno la loro impronta con opere, sul tema della danza, che verranno esposte e vendute in un luogo che della danza fa una vera e propria opera d'arte.

Sunday the 22nd of January 2012 at Leggere Strutture in Via Ferrarese 169 (Bologna), there will be an exhibition organized by Lök.

Fingerprints and Dance: a fingertprint is a sign that distinguishes individuals, it's a permanent mark that testifies our passage across the word, just like dance leaves a mark in everyone, both dancers and the audience.
In this self-financing event, Lök's authors will leave their mark with their art on the subject of dance. The works in the exhibition will be for sale in a place that turns dance in a work of art.

Il Collettivo Teatro dei Profughi ha organizzato “Drawing in the rain”, asta di beneficenza per i comuni alluvionati della Liguria, prevista per l'8 dicembre.

Tanti illustratori e fumettisti si troveranno alla libreria Golconda, a Bologna, per disegnare vignette ispirate a canzoni diverse, ma tutte incentrate sul tema della pioggia. A turno ogni autore, seduto al tavolo, ascoltando una traccia improvviserà uno schizzo che verrà proiettato su uno schermo. Successivamente gli schizzi verranno messi all’asta e il ricavato andrà ai comuni alluvionati della Liguria.

Tomorrow in Golconda bookshop in Bologna, there will be a fundrising auction for the flooded towns in Liguria.
Many illustrators and cartoonists will draw images inspired by different songs, all on the theme of rain. The sketches will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to the towns in Liguria.

Last weekend I spent 24 hours in Sarmede with my friends Marta, Francesca and Mila, Francesca's daughter.

We arrived in Sarmede in the late sunday afternoon and we visited the exhibition exhibition both on the same evening and on the monday morning.

It has been so good to see my illustration exhibited together with many famous illustrators, it has been an emotion I will not forget.

We slept in this wonderful B&B managed by lovely people and full of cats (is there anything better than cats that give you the good morning?).

Responding to the call for participation, many independent publishers across borders display their best production.
The exhibition presents the work of contemporary artists who invest the scene of the alternative publishing with drawings, collages, prints.
During one weekend, in the Médiathèque Marguerite Duras many independent publishers will exhibit their work.
I took part to this event presenting my fanzine "Maison +".

I had a great week end!
I attended the illustration workshop with Ana Ventura in Hamelin, Bologna.
We worked a lot and it has been very emotional and inspiring. We touched themes like "inside us" and "inside our head" and "invisible". I loved to work on this themes and now my brain is full of new ideas.
It has been super energetic for me, fresh water :)
Thanks very much to Ana, she really gave us a lot. And also thanks to Hamelin for the organization and to all the girls (as usual we were only women :) ) that I met during these three days. It is so important to share ideas with other illustrators, constructive criticisms and different points of view!

I have been stuck in Edinburgh for a week, due to snowfalls. It has been really wonderful.
I visited a collective exhibition in Broughton Deli where some of my Cats are exhibit (it is still up, until 14 january), walked trough the snow, have tea with my friends: lovely. This city is just lovely!
I also visit Alasdair Gray's exhibition, If you still don't know this illustrator, you should do it!

Today is a lovely snow day, so I am in the right mood for updates!

Solihull Gallery Spaces (G1, G2 and heritage Gallery) are celebrating the opening of the two next exhibitions.
Comic landscape and Ellipsis

Comic Landscape is a year long Gallery project where artists involved have been working with young people in the north of Solihull using the regeneration as inspiration. The exhibition showcasees artists original works, artist interpretations of the young peoples work and original arts created by the young people.

This launch starts the 2nd of December at 4.30pm- 6pm- all young people that have taken part will be coming to the Gallery

Artist, Pak-Keung Wan will be exhibiting new bodies of work including drawings and projection.

Both exhibitions have received funding support from the Arts Council.

I participated too, unfortunately I will see only photos of the exhibition, too far for me right now.

Hi Folks! Here we are: some photos of Sunday!

We went to visit the exhibition in The Auld Hoose, unfortunately I was in Italy the opening day, so we had a great sunday roast (lamb, yummy!) and enjoyed Knock my socks off artworks!

Wow! Christmas is so close and I have a lot of stuff to organize.

First of all a comics workshop for children in a nice Bookshop in Bologna, Golconda, in Via Nosadella. It will be the 8th of December!

Last but not least: this weekend I will participate a workshop with the wonderful illustrator Kitty Crowther I am soooo excited!

Me, Coffee and Tea

Today my new french press exploded, it was an ikea one and was full of just done herbal tea. Yes, in this period no coffee for me. It is compulsory :(
Anyway, I am trying to cope with this sacrifice trying every type of really special tea. Two minute from my house there is a place full of wonderful different tea, all very yummy and scented.
All this speck to say I forgot to put in the blog the new design for tea towel.

Cagliari and shopping

Hello! You can't say that in these days I am not writing enough.
Yesterday I went to Cagliari to bring my screen printed notebooks and exercise books to Sa Pintadera.
Ale and Davide are working hard to make the shop more and more cute!
We talked about a workshop for this winter probably, so stay tuned because really soon I will talk better about this. I like the shop because it is like little Sardinian mountain chalet and because they are really nice and kind! It is full of lovely crafts: jewelery, pottery, t-shirt and handcraft bags!

Also I finally went to visit Tuttestorie the bookshop, and of course I did a bit of shopping. Money to burn!
I bought "Pillole Blu" (Pilules Bleues) of Frederik Peeters and a book of Bruno Bettelheim "The uses of enchantment. The meaning and importance of Fairy Tales" (my psychotherapist heart.....).
I am a book bulimic in this period. I would like to read more and more and more and more.

Also I went to Loriga Fumetti and I finally bought the book of Giulia Sagramola "Milk and Mint", I wanted this book since long time because I use to read her blog, and it is a really wonderful example of autobiographical comic, so I read it in the train, while I was returning in Carbonia. I saw my dear friend Ilenia, and we had a nice chat in an old and beautiful cafè in the center of Cagliari.
I planned to go to have a crepe in this place near the Ospedale Civile but at the end of the day I just ran to the train station, it was too late!

I enjoy a lot Pilules Bleues (of course I read it just back home): Peeteres treats theme of HIV in a so delicate, sincere and open way that you can only be conquered.
I have to start to work to my new project those days and I would like to go to the sea, for a walk as well....
Well, we will see.

2D3D Fair is over. We have been having a wonderful time together. Here you can see some photos of the last days. At the end we were so tired but also so sad it was over, it was like staying in a family really. Great time!

We had another stall in the Lot on 12th of September and we will have another one on the 10th of October, still in the Lot, so do not hesitate if you want to visit us, if you are in Edinburgh.

During August I had an exhibition in Carbonia, Sardinia, organized by associazione ARCI "la gabbianella fortunata". I was selected with 5 other artists to exhibit in Villa Sulcis on the 20th 21th and 22th August.
The theme of the exhibition was "le relazioni pericolose" (dangerous relationship).
I exhibited 5 digital prints. I talked in my images about violence on women. This is an important issue which is frequently too burning and embarrassing. It often involves people around us, people that we know very well, and that prefer to not talk.

Unfortunately I was still in Edinburgh during the exhibition, so I could only see these photos, listen comments of people and see this video, that shows Andrea Contu, the organizative director that describes about the exhibition and artists.

This is the Caption that Claudia Pinna, curator of exhibition wrote about my artwork (only in Italian for now, sorry... :) I will translate it soon)

Another news: some of my Cats are now exhibited in Ephemeris, 24 Marchmont Crescent, Edinburgh. It is a lovely Tea House and the owner, Anna, is a wonderful person, really sweet and kind. Also she has many different types of exquisite Tea and sweets (try the blossoming Tea and the scones)! Yum! I will post photos as soon as possible!

Another info before to closing this really long post: some of my artwork and craft are now available in the lovely shop Hannah Zakari! Rachael has in her shop really different and particular types of crafts and artworks. I love in particular work of SnowPony, Emma Henderson! She does lovely bags!

Hello Hello!
I know, I neglected the blog in the last weeks, but I have good reasons.
In fact now I am writing seating in living room ready for going to bed.
Well, where to start?
First of all, last week I did the summer school in illustration with Mina Braun at ECA.
It was really cool and exciting and also we had hard work working on our project!
I worked on the scottish fairy tale "Thomas Rymer".
Here some photos that lovely Emma did (she did the summer school as well)

With Mina (I found that Mina in my opinion is the twin of Giulia Sagramola, they have really similar face and hair as well!)

Then, because I wasn't tired enough, on Sunday I went to Glasgow in this lovely place that is Welcome Home to attend a Fanzine workshop run by Marceline and Jen.
I had the chance to talk with Jen eventually that I admire: she really does a lovely work, and is a lovely person too!
Also, Marceline prepared for us a mini zine about zinemaking for us, and we had the chance to see a lot of fanzines and to build our fanzine too!
Marceline created a Zine Challenge, I am going to participate, why don't you try too?
I did one about Italian gesture, I had a lot of fun in preparing this! I was laughing with myself.
This is the cover. Soon I will put it in Etsy too, with Thomas Rymer litte book.

I am totally gone hog wild for this video.
I saw it this morning and sing the song for all the day in the studio!
I laughed alone thinking about it.
Moreover the song says "Neko" so in the future if I will become very famous, I will publish a book and this book will be advertise like in television, I would like to have this music as background!

Oh my....

Actually I hate television, so maybe in the radio!
Now I come down from the cloud, and I show you a new work that I am printing those days.

How to have a perfect girly day

Take a lovely pretty cafè near the shore, in a wonderful gothic city like Edinburgh. Put your favorite dress, just arrived from Etsy, your pearls and your new red shoes.

Then, mix with a bit of rare Scottish sun and some shopping in a charity shop open sunday (perfect dark dolly shoes and Celtic fairy tale book).

Bring a friend, a really good one, and have with her a cup of tea and a cheese board, but a really yummy one. That meet some creative and nice lovely girl, and have all together a chat around piece of colorful tissue, art materials and sweets.
Then create something of nice, sew and draw: here we are you have a perfect girly day!
Do not forgot a Martini by the way.

Creative sunday

I am preparing to have a lovely creative sunday with my friend Nivine. I slept a lot today and I need for some tea and cupcake (by now I am addicted to sweets in this country, but how is it possible the contrary?).

We will go to sofi's for this Event.
It will be funny! There is also the sun today! It is just came out!

oh my....I am soooo excite, next week I will have illustration course in ECA with Mina Braun, she is a really wonderful illustrator!
She is also preparing the fair with hoot&roar collective, for this summer, so in those days she is printing too in Edinburgh Printmakers.

Flowers

Good morning! I have found some flowers today and yesterday, many flowers for me. :)

First of all: I am inside the daily diaries of Gemma Correll! I can't believe it! I met Gemma, Anthony (her boyriend, he is an illustrator too) and the famous Mr.Pickles next week, we had a coffee in Peter's Yard (people try this if you come in Edinburgh. It is great! But before, save a lot of money, because it is expensive too but you know "semel in anno, expecially in Edinburgh, I need a good coffee!"). They are really nice! And Mr. Pickles is cute indeed!
And yesterday I saw she drew me in her famous daily diary. Gemma is really an exemple for me, I love her artwork, I follow her since long time, so you can immagine my happiness!

Another Surprise is that Katie Green reply to my e-mail, she wrote me a lot of advice, I am really glad! Such a beautiful waking uo I had! Go to take a look to her blog, she rule!

And also I discovered a lovely artist this morning, during my blog walking, her name is Becca Stadtlander, and I am in love with this illustration:
